Ladies Who Geek was delighted to participate in Extra Life as a team this year! Extra Life is a gaming-focused fundraiser to benefit Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Founded in 2008 by a group of gamers that wanted to start a charity that would help sick children, Extra-Life is a way for the gaming community to give back and help kids who can’t help themselves. The LWG team set a goal of raising $1200 this year, at several different locations on November 3.
There was Magic: The Gathering and videogames and dancing as we streamed our activities on Twitch – and there was even an intense, four-hour D&D session during which we had four hours to find and defeat the vampire Strahd in his lair! Much fun was had, even though the ominous clock ticking down on the wall behind us was stressful! We also had some amazing homemade snacks, like these beautiful apple tarts!
We are so delighted and proud to say that we met our goal – and then some! We raised a total of $1785 – thank you so much to all the generous participants and supporters! We will see you next year for Extra Life!
