Does It Spark Joy? | Donation Drive
Declutter your home and donate items to a good cause with Ladies Who Geek! We are hosting a Donation Drive inspired by the ideas of famous professional organizer, Marie Kondo. Unlike most ideas of tidying up, Marie Kondo teaches cleaning by category, not location. If an item does not ‘spark joy,’ she encourages you to let it go. From now until June 8th, we encourage you to embrace this method by putting together a donation pile. *Please RSVP to let us know you have items available for donation.
June 3rd: A list of drop-off locations will be sent out via email to let you know where you can take your things.
June 8th: Take your items to a ‘drop-off’ location at a fellow LWG member’s home.
June 15th: Your items will be sorted based on category and sent to the donation center where they will do the most good.
Items we are looking for, along with some of the organizations we are sending items to, are listed below:

Call for Volunteers
Want to help? Great! Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Receive Donations (Let us know by June 1st!)
Donations will be dropped off at your home by LWG members on June 8th, then picked up on June 9th to be stored for sorting. We will only be accepting 1 location per city, so volunteer early!
- Sort Donations
Once we have donations, we need volunteers to help sort and send them to various donation centers. Since this event will be done at a LWG member’s home, an address will be sent out via email.
Please email Erin Messick at firstname.lastname@example.org with the opportunities you would like to participate in.
