We had such a good time this month meeting for an informal mixer and potluck at a board member’s house. New and experienced members gathered to play games, eat, drink, and be merry. It was a treat to get to meet new geeky ladies and share our passions. We even welcomed our first mother-daughter combo at the event!
The food was plentiful, varied, and delicious. We had a fruit and cheese plate, fried chicken, mini sandwiches, baguettes with goat cheese and honey, cheese and crackers, a delicious homemade rice dish, pizza, and many more options to choose from for dinner.
Dessert was even more delicious – canapes, key lime pie, cakes, fruit, and more! We also collected a pile of socks for our ongoing Metro Relief sock drive. Please let us know if you have new black or white socks to donate anytime in April or May. All sizes are welcome; more info is here.
There was a rousing game of Cards Against Humanities at the dining table downstairs, and some fun retro gaming on the new NES Classic in the lovely little game room upstairs: Super Mario Brothers, Mario Kart, and Street Fighter brought some nostalgia and some fierce competition! We also got to love on the house’s cat named, appropriately, the Face of Boe.
Our next event will be our free co-ed April Happy Hour at Big Beat Dallas at the new Toyota Music Factory on April 26, from 6 to 8:30pm. We will start in the Texas Lottery open-air plaza at 6PM and do a loose bar crawl throughout the plaza; all food and drink will be on your own tab. This is a co-ed event, so ladies, bring your male friends and SOs! Please keep in mind that guys MUST be RSVP’ed by a LWG member.
We are also excited about our May brunch – it’s Lisa Frank themed! We’ll be meeting at Bravo Cucina Italiana in Fort Worth at noon on Saturday, May 12. Get out your bright colors, glitter, and sparkle and come enjoy the shine that is Lisa Frank!
